Understanding Early Psychosis. Recognizing the signs and symptoms
Research has consistently shown a link between trauma and psychosis.
If you're a therapist of any kind working with trauma, learning to distinguish between symptoms that might be caused by trauma from those that may be more in the realm of psychosis is something you should at least be somewhat familiar with.
What will you learn in this workshop?
What is psychosis?
What is early psychosis?
What are the symptoms of early psychosis?
What's the relationship between psychosis and trauma and how to tell the difference
How do you know if a client is experiencing signs of early psychosis
How can you tell if your client is experiencing the symptoms of early psychosis?
When are these symptoms serious?
How are these symptoms treated?
And much more
Guy Macpherson, PhD
Guy received his doctorate in clinical psychology from The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now Sofia University) in 2011.
Following that Guy did internships in community clinics which specialized in addiction, dementia, and learning disorders.
Guy became one of the first group of clinicians responsible for opening First Hope, the first program in Northern California which focused on early psychosis.
It was during that experience that Guy saw how many of the young individuals coming for help had experienced trauma. Deciding that something needed to be done, Guy founded The Trauma Therapist Project, a company to provide trauma education for new therapists, and then created The Trauma Therapist Podcast, which has since become one of the leading mental health podcasts.
